The Fives Group was well represented at the Annual IEEE - IAS / PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference.

Involvement of Fives at the Conference

The 56th annual IEEE – IAS / PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference was held mid-April in Washington, DC.

This is the premier conference for the cement manufacturing industry in the Americas, attracting nearly 1,000 attendees for three days of technical presentations and included exhibit hall with 160 vendor booths.

The Fives Group was well represented at the conference. As in previous years, Fives Pillard, Fives FCB and Fives Solios shared an exhibit booth, staffed by M. Jiménez Delgado, Y. Huerre and D. Bourbon (Fives FCB), M. Vaccaro and L. Ricci (Fives Pillard) as well as T. Allegrucci, J. Boucher, P. Martineau and L. Hansen (Fives Solios/Solios Environnement Inc). The group’s large booth attracted a steady stream of visitors.

This year’s conference featured several innovations, including New Professionals Training. A number of 3 to 4-hour tutorials on specific cement plant equipment, aimed at engineers and other professionals with less than three years experience in the industry.

This New Professional Training included Jacques Boucher of Fives Solios, who twice presented “Dust Collectors for NESHAP Applications”.
The presentation focused on dust collector design, operation and maintenance.
The two training sessions were the most popular tutorials at the conference, attracting 22 and 26 participants. The attendees were enthusiastic in their praise and appreciation of Jacques’ presentation with numerous positive comments.

In addition, in the conference technical program, Louis Ricci, from Fives Pillard, presented a paper titled “Impact of Converting from Coal to Natural Gas Firing” and Lars Hansen, from Fives Solios, participated in a panel discussion on high efficiency SO2 control, presenting the Solios EAD™ (Enhanced All Dry) technology and experience.
